TV Quick Hits: ‘Lethal Weapon’ pilot, Emily Kinney’s new gig, and ‘Facts of Life’ reunion

Fox -

Fox orders “Lethal Weapon” pilot – Just in case we were not getting enough pilots based on other projects just yet, we now bring to you this: “Lethal Weapon” is going to be strongly considered at Fox moving into the new TV season.

The network has signed up Damon Wayans Sr. to play the role Roger Murtaugh in their project, which is of course the part played by Danny Glover in the feature film. The show is still looking for the right person to play Martin Riggs, as popularized by Mel Gibson in the movies. We do feel like getting Wayans, best known for “My Wife and Kids,” is a great start … but there is still a lot of work to be done to make this into the sort of project that could be an enormous hit for the upcoming fall schedule.

Want some other news of the day? Here you go…

“Facts of Life” reunion – This Monday on the Hallmark Channel’s “Home & Family,” get ready to see many former cast members back together! Charlotte Rae, Lisa Whelchel, Kim Fields, and Geri Jewell are all going to be appearing for what could be a really fun episode of the show celebrating the classic sitcom and then some. You’ll get a chance to see a few different segments, including one all about Blair’s signature hair.

“The Facts of Life” have been in the headlines more over the past few years courtesy of some of its former stars; Lisa was a contestant back on the 25th season of “Survivor,” while Kim is currently a cast member on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

Emily Kinney joins Hayley Atwell pilot – We wrote recently about the “Agent Carter” star signing on for “Conviction,” a pilot over on ABC where she will play a woman who helps to change / overturn convictions with a special unit. Now, we’ve got two more names to add to the list: Former “The Walking Dead” star Emily Kinney, and also Shawn Ashmore reasonably fresh off of his role on Fox’s “The Following.”
