‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9, episode 15 reaction: Show boss on Bernadette decision

Big Bang Theory -

Many fans of “The Big Bang Theory” assumed that a character would be getting pregnant at some point in the series’ run, and given how long they have been married, Howard and Bernadette were the couple who were the most likely to have such a story happen to them.

On this past episode of the show, that moment finally did with Melissa Rauch’s character revealing to the audience the big news … although she hasn’t said anything yet to any of the show’s other characters. What’s interesting is that Bernadette had never seemed that excited about having children in the past, and this is something that executive producer Steve Molaro says will be a part of the emotional process to come. He speaks more about that in a chat with The Hollywood Reporter:

“In the episode, they weren’t really working hard at having a baby. I don’t think either Bernadette or Howard has wrapped their heads around the idea of it. They’re nervous, they’re excited and they’re not 100 percent ready to go with confidence so it’s fun to see two people who just got on a rollercoaster that they weren’t entirely sure they wanted to get on but they’re ready to make the best of it.”

As for some other important notes from Thursday’s episode, Molaro noted that neither Emily nor Claire are probably gone from the show for good, meaning that Raj’s love interests may still have a role to play. Also, he made it clear that the pregnancy storyline will probably play until the first part of the tenth season at the earliest, and that having this story unfold at least is making the show consider more bringing in Howard’s father since there is another reason to explore that. However, nothing is planned for the immediate future.
