Ratings: ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ steady; ‘Scandal,’ ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ down
The ratings for Thursday night are in, and if there’s one thing that we could say about them for the most part, it is this: Meh. There’s nothing altogether impressive about some of the numbers that we’re seeing. No show is really showing just a huge measure of improvement; as a matter of fact, there would be no good news for us to write about if we didn’t consider solid ratings to be good news.
The winners – As we said, solid ratings are all we have to go with today. “Legends of Tomorrow” (0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic) is completely level with what it was at this point a week ago. That’s about all we got for you, other than “Elementary” (1.1) staying at a rating that is pretty bad for CBS standards.
The losers – Are the days of #TGIT domination over for ABC? It’s not looking nearly as dominant as it once did. “Grey’s Anatomy” (2.4) is now the strongest show of the three, while “Scandal” (2.1) and “How to Get Away with Murder” (1.8) have each fallen pretty hard over the past year and a half. The only justification we can offer there is that these two shows do occasionally get caught up so much in the style and the bombastic nature of their “OMG” shockers, they forget at times about some of the substance meant to drive them behind the scenes.
Another big disappointment on the schedule was “The 100,” which fell with the added competition down to a 0.5 rating. While this will probably earn it a renewal if the numbers don’t fall more, you gotta remember that this is almost the spring, a time when numbers almost always seem to go on the decline. “The Blacklist” also fell to a 1.4, not that it matters much since the show has already been renewed.

Why don’t you include The Big Bang Theory in the rating anymore?

Typically it’s because we tend to focus more on major fluctuations — the show’s been super-steady as of late, so it’s just not always notable to report. Also, it’s easier sometimes to focus on shows that are in jeopardy :)
