‘The Good Wife’ season 7: Series finale title; Josh Charles reacts to show ending

While there are many people out there who are more than likely still talking all about Super Bowl 50, there’s some other breaking news that is still channeling through our brain: The end of “The Good Wife.” CBS confirmed during the game that this is the final season of the show, which makes sense given not only the declining ratings, but also the decision by creators Robert and Michelle King to move on to other things after this spring. If the show were to continue, it just wouldn’t be the same.

Now that we’ve said all that, why not hand out some reactions? Let’s start with Josh Charles, who famously played will Gardner on four and a half seasons of the show before he was gunned down midway through season 5 (arguably the most shocking moment in the history of the series). In a post on Twitter, he congratulated everyone on all of their hard work:

“Congrats to my Good Wife family on an amazing run. I’m proud to have been a part of it & wish the entire crew all the best down the stretch!”

Charles still has a good relationship with the show, as he has directed installments and lent his voice to it since his character’s death.

Meanwhile, the show’s official writers room also posted what will be the title for the series finale airing most likely in May: “End.” That’s not the most creative name in the history of television, but we understand the reasoning behind keeping it simple. The message was composed on the account by the Kings.

After this brief hiatus, the first of the last nine episodes of “The Good Wife” will air on February 14. Now that we know the series is building towards the end, we have something even more exciting to look forward to.
