2016 Super Bowl Commercials: Liam Neeson, LG bring you the future

Super Bowl -Liam Neeson is certainly a man with a particular set of skills, and for LG, they have chosen to utilize some of them in their latest Super Bowl Commercial below for the company. It’s a fun ad, mostly because it puts Liam in a comfortable position … only to then have a heck of a lot of fun.

Of course, we should get it out of the way that there is one Neeson skill not really utilized at all in this commercial: Killing people. Somehow, there’s enough going on here visually to make up for it.

The idea – Neeson brings his co-star a vision of the future, and it is all sorts of intense and awesome. LG products are featured prominently, which are of course at the cutting-edge of technology.

What works – It’s Liam Neeson. Seriously. What other argument do you need to like this beyond just the fact that this is a big-time movie star promoting a line of awesome-looking products!

What doesn’t – Here’s the issue: The entire commercial doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, and it’s also pretty long. Having Liam is able to compensate a little bit for some of the problems, but this feels like an idea that was based all around being able to get the actor, but without much consideration for how to follow it up.

Grade – C+. As we said, Neeson saves the ad by being awesome. It’s still not one of the best ones we have from the big game, but this may do enough to get LG some new customers.
