‘Shades of Blue’ renewed for season 2 by NBC
For anyone wondering whether or not the series-low ratings for “Shades of Blue” Thursday night on NBC spells trouble for it, we come bearing good news: You no longer have to worry about it.
Today, the network confirmed that they are bringing the series starring Jennifer Lopez back for a second season, with one of the major reasons being apparently the strong DVR ratings that we are seeing the series pull in. In a statement, NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke had the following to say:
“We want to thank Jennifer, who is the hardest working woman we know, for her incredible efforts as both the star and producer of this show, as well as well as our other amazing producers and cast for all their tireless work in creating one of the most compelling dramas on television today … We’re so excited to find out where this story will lead and have them raise the stakes even higher in what we know will be a fantastic second season.”
Lopez certainly has had one of the busiest years imaginable; not only has she starring on this series for the peacock network, but she also has a show in Las Vegas and will be appearing throughout the next several weeks on “American Idol.” She filmed some of the earlier episodes of the series back in the fall.
Based on where we are right now in “Shades of Blue” season 1, we imagine that the second season will probably premiere at some point in early 2017.
