‘The Good Wife’ producers sign Tony Shalhoub for new CBS series ‘BrainDead’
While Robert and Michelle King have already made it clear that they are planning to leave “The Good Wife” at the end of the seventh season, they will not be gone from CBS for long. Specifically, the two executive producers are returning soon with “BrainDead,” a series that will certainly qualify to be strange and then some. After all, this show is about a key discovery that a Washington DC staffer (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) makes that aliens have overrun the capital and have devoured the brains of many of America’s top legislators. It’s completely ridiculous, but clearly the Kings were looking to do something following their time in the world of series drama.
What we’ve learned today is that former “Monk” star Tony Shalhoub has joined the likes of Aaron Tveit (“Grease: Live”), Winstead, and others in the red of Red Wheatus, someone described (per TVLine) as “a hard-drinking, fun-loving Republican senator who has spent decades in Washington making deals, until a radical transformation turns him into a health-conscious extremist who would rather destroy the government than compromise.”
This new series will more than likely air at some point later this year, and that is one of many big things to look out for. While “BrainDead” is far from the beaten path when it comes to CBS shows, we do like that the network is at least trying to think outside of the box a little bit.
We’ll have more on this and other new projects soon, so stay tuned!
