Will TNT nixing ‘Titans’ bring Nightwing, other characters elsewhere?
There have been an abundance of comic-book adaptations as of late, and of course “Titans” was one that we were very excited to see play out … at least before TNT decided to not move forward with it. Given that they’re not really a network that tends to air this sort of genre we were actually surprised that it was picked up in the first place, and not so much that it is gone.
With this being said, that does not necessarily mean that there is no hope at all for the show elsewhere. Speaking to TVLine recently, DC Entertainment COO Geoff Johns made it clear that they may have some other ideas for the property still elsewhere:
“We [at DC] have known about [Turner nixing Titans] for months and months and months. That’s not new news to us … We have plans for Titans. It’s a huge piece of DC and we have plans.”
What could this mean? It could be a variety of different things. We could see it functioning as a feature film in some capacity, or maybe some sort of series for a streaming service like Amazon. Think about it: Marvel has their own universe over on Netflix, so why not bring Nightwing and company over to a rival to give it a shot? Personally, we’d love to see the series on The CW, even if we are running dangerously close at the moment to just having the entire network be superhero shows since they’ve already got “Arrow,” “The Flash,” and “Legends of Tomorrow” on the roster.
Ultimately, we’ll probably have to wait and see what these plans are.
