‘Teen Wolf’ season 5, episode 15 review: The dangers of being Lydia
Was “Teen Wolf” Tuesday night a break from the action? We wouldn’t say that, but it’s probably still fair to call the installment a break in at least one shape or form. After all, consider it like this: This hour of TV really did not tell you much of anything that you did not already know, at least other than that if Lydia dies, it could lead to hear screaming so loud and so powerfully that it could kill everyone around her. How’s that for some stakes?
The big thing tonight was that it brought everything full-circle from the premiere, as we finally saw Scott McCall and company try to bust Lydia out of Eichen House for good. It was nice to see the gang back in their metaphorical Mystery Machine after spending so much time apart, and the Malia / Kira stuff was particularly fun. Stiles is back to being the perfect second-in-command, Scott was his true alpha self, and for the time being there may even be some motivation to work with Theo.
Meanwhile, nobody still has any clue who the Beast true is, or the proper way to stop it. Also, it’s still not entirely clear what is going on with Parrish the hellhound, and whose side we’re supposed to consider him on.
Sometimes there are episodes that are meant to shock you, and sometimes there are episodes meant to un-shock you. “Teen Wolf” this time gave you the latter. It put together the pieces and showed you the full picture of everything that’s going on … with our main question being whether or not this would have been more effective if this was what you had chosen to show in the first place rather than the flash-forwards and all of the confusing jumping around. Grade: B-.
