‘Chicago Fire’ season 4, episode 13 reaction: Did Chili and Brett survive deadly attack?

Chicago Fire -Going into Tuesday night’s new episode of “Chicago Fire,” NBC touted this as one of the best episodes of the season, one that every person out there who loves the show needs to see. Yes, this sort of hyperbole is what the network is supposed to use from time to time, but they’ve often don’t promote an episode specifically by telling us how great it is. As a result of that, we figured something big was going to happen … and our fear was that we’d be losing a major character along the way.

The good news is that in the aftermath of “The Sky is Falling,” no series regular saw the end of their story … though there were many close calls. As a building became under siege in what can only be described as an act of terrorism, Severide was almost shot on a rescue mission, and would have were it not for Alex Ward. She was injured herself in retaliation, though managed to survive. The bad news is that like many other agents, her journey is taking her elsewhere, more than likely ending their romance for now.

Meanwhile, we also had an extremely close call for Chili and Brett, who were extremely at odds for the majority of the episode over the former’s alcoholism and her not being entirely forthcoming about how she was transferred to Firehouse 51 in the first place. Chili put a complaint in to Boden about her, but may be ready to move forward with her following the apology at the end of the night.

In other news the stage is now set for the Battle of the Badges between Jimmy from the Firehouse and Antonio from “Chicago PD.” The money raised will go to the families of the attack’s several victims.

We’ll leave it up to you to determine if this episode was truly worth the hype, but in between Severide’s love life and the Chili – Brett work relationship, there were certainly important moments.
