‘Gilmore Girls’ revival: Melissa McCarthy claims she was not asked
Well, here is some rather-unwelcome (and surprising) news when it comes to the upcoming “Gilmore Girls” revival on Netflix: Melissa McCarthy has not actually been asked to appear on the show, at least in a way where the invitation made it to her ears. This is what she is saying in a new post on Twitter HERE.
This news comes as a surprise given creator Amy Sherman-Palladino’s recent comments that the series would love to have her back, even if it was just a small cameo, and there had at least been some discussion between her and the actress’ “team.” Maybe this is a situation where there were minor discussions that didn’t go anywhere, or the budget just made it impossible to get a particularly big-name actress on board.
Ultimately one way or another McCarthy’s tweet certainly does not make us hopeful that there will be something coming for Sookie on the revival, which is really a shame given how beloved she was on the original show. Much like “Fuller House,” the problem here is that people’s careers change once a show is over. McCarthy has become a pretty huge film and TV star with a very busy schedule, while in turn someone else like Jared Padalecki spends a good 23 episodes a year in Vancouver filming “Supernatural.” There’s not a lot of spare time to come into Stars Hollow and play around, however fun it could be.
Given that the revival is just currently getting started insofar as filming goes, it’s certainly possible that all of this could change. Let’s ultimately hope that it does one way or another.
We’ll have some further news on the subject very soon, or at least as some as something more is announced.
