ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 5 spoilers: Could Mellie, Olivia actually work together?
We wrote the question above in some past articles talking about “Scandal” season 5, but we are now getting to the point where this could be even more of a hot-button topic. Specifically, we mean this in a reference to the upcoming episode “The Candidate,” which will be airing on February 18 and should also feature plenty of questions in regards to whether or not Olivia Pope and Mellie Grant could (or should) be on the same page moving forward.
Before we go too far into this article, let’s just kick things off by sharing the official synopsis below:
“Mellie seeks out Olivia’s help but may not be prepared for what that entails, and Liz tries to convince Susan Ross to run for the presidency. Meanwhile, Abby and Cyrus are at odds when a profile piece on Fitz comes into question.”
We have to say that the idea of Kerry Washington and Bellamy Young spending time together now sounds all sorts of incredible, given what their characters have been through, and also how great they were to watch as adversaries. We’re not sure that they can ever be friends, but when you think about Mellie’s stance for Planned Parenthood and Olivia recently having an abortion, there is some common ground there ideologically. Olivia may be willing to think in the interest of what she thinks is right for the country first, and then focus later on what is the easiest thing for her to do as a person. It’s not like putting others before herself is something that is hard for her, given that she’s done it many times on this series so far to the point where her life has been at risk.
