‘Gilmore Girls’ revival: Show boss hoping for Melissa McCarthy cameo
At the moment, it is not entirely clear whether or not we are going to see Melissa McCarthy turn up on the upcoming Netflix – “Gilmore Girls” revival. What we do know, however, is that show boss Amy Sherman-Palladino would certainly like to make it happen in the event that the “Mike & Molly” star is free.
What Amy told TVLine on the subject of Melissa’s Sookie is this: At the moment, she is not written into any of the scripts, and they have come up with a good way to write her out. With that being said, there is an offer out there for her to appear in the event that she wants to stop by and make even a brief appearance:
“She’s really f—ing busy,” Sherman Palladino acknowledges. “But the thing I have said [to her team] is, ‘Look, if Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I’ll write her a scene. Melissa was one of us. If she has a spare moment to run over [to the set] — even if for just a cameo — we would be totally game. And if it’s a last-minute thing, I would write her in and we would figure it out. That’s the way we left it.”
At the moment, Melissa is not the only question mark on the show; there’s also the status of Jared Padalecki, whose character of Dean (ironic given his “Supernatural” gig) was a big part of the show for many years. We figure this gig could be very hard to book, mostly because he is currently filming the CW show until this spring.
