‘The X-Files’ season 10, episode 3 video: New sneak peek highlights Kumail Nanjiani

There are so many reasons to be excited about Monday night’s new episode of “The X-Files.” For one, it’s an episode of “The X-Files” in 2016! Maybe saying that is starting to get a little bit old, but we’re awe of the fact that this show is back when at this point a little over a year ago it looked like there was almost zero chance of this happening.

Now, let’s move on Exhibit B: It’s a classic monster-of-the-week episode! These are some of our personal favorites, and we love how much the show is leaning into it with the title of “Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster.” We even love how abstract the show is being right now in describing the creature. This could be anything; maybe it’s a radioactive bunny or a wolf costume somebody got at a Halloween clearance sale.

Whatever the creature is, it is freaking the heck out of Kumail Nanjiani. (See the sneak peek below.) His presence is Exhibit C for why Monday’s episode could rock. The “Silicon Valley” star (also one of our favorite comedians working today) is a longtime fan of the show, and even co-hosts a podcast entitled “The X-Files Files” all about it. We cannot even imagine the sort of crazy bliss that had to come from actually appearing on a show that was such a touchstone for him in his life. His role is apparently some sort of animal-control guy who is not getting paid enough for this [bleep] and takes off at the end of the video.

We’ll be back for a full review later. Let’s just hope this episode is as awesome as it looks.
