‘Legends of Tomorrow’ spoilers: Could Kendra Saunders have a new love interest?

Through most of “Legends of Tomorrow” so far (let alone the two-part crossover event between “Arrow” and “The Flash”), Kendra Saunders was constantly pushed by Carter Hall to fall for him. Why? Much of it was due to the shared history that he knew the two of them had. Unfortunately, at the same time this was not a history she knew anything about. She couldn’t relate to most of what he was saying romantically, and didn’t want to be pushed or told who to love.

Now that Hawkman is gone, what does this mean for Kendra moving forward? Is it possible that she could end up having some sort of romantic relationship with someone else? This is something that showrunner Phil Klemmer discusses further in a new chat with The Hollywood Reporter:

“In 4,000 years, she hasn’t gotten to choose for herself who to love … Over the course of the season, we’ll play with the idea that Kendra essentially is a widow, so is she doomed to live out the rest of this lifetime alone? If she kills Savage, does that mean her eternal life ends or will Carter still be reborn? Or can she, for the first time in her long life, choose who to love? You can’t be on a spaceship with eight other people facing life and death situations without the possibility of romance. Numerous characters will face that over the course of the season.”

In general, Klemmer makes it clear that there could be numerous romances on the Waverider, comparing it almost to a season of “Big Brother”; when you have so many people in close quarters for a long period of time, it’s only inevitable that there could be some pairings that take shape.
