‘Better Call Saul’ season 2 premiere video: Is Mike’s new deal going south?

Better Call Saul season 2We are still two-plus weeks away from the premiere of “Better Call Saul,” but we are starting to at least now get a sense of what sort of story executive producers Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan are interested in telling … and part of it could involve how Mike starts to get involved with more serious criminal enterprises.

In the sneak peek below (posted by TV Guide), Jonathan Banks’ character is preparing for another “meet” when Pryce shows up in quite possibly the most ridiculous car imaginable. Being a former cop, he understands precisely what the rules of dealing in the underworld are … and one of them is to be as discreet as possible. The only thing that is going to come out of showing up in a ridiculous car is a likely bust by the authorities.

Therefore, Mike gives an order: The meet still happens, but in a car of his own choosing.

Eventually, we can certainly understand if he becomes tired of these arrangements, and looks instead to hitch his wagon to other people. In the end, we know what his intentions are and who he is trying to fight for. The problem here is that there is the right and the wrong sort of way to help, and we’ve seen sometimes through “Breaking Bad” that corrupted money is worse in many ways than no money at all.

Stay tuned, and we imagine we’re going to have so much more to report on before the premiere of “Saul” on February 15.
