‘Madam Secretary’ season 2, episode 13 preview: Elizabeth, Henry confront tough news

There is a new episode of “Madam Secretary” coming on CBS Sunday night, and this one is not going to waste a lot of time before hitting you with some very difficult news: The passing of Henry’s father. This is something that he will be dealing with throughout the hour coming up, and it is the subject of the sneak peek below.

How is he coping with it? The answer is really just about as well as he can, all things considered. He’s struggling with the suddenness of the situation first and foremost, since it was not something that he was anticipating; he and his wife will have to figure out how to move forward, even in the midst of everything else going on with his life.

Part of the drama that comes out of this will stem from the following question first and foremost: Was Henry there enough for his family? Some of his relatives are going to question that, which helps to further raise the question as to whether or not having such a demanding job is the right thing. We do think it is if Henry is getting the satisfaction out of it that he needs; as for some of the potentially-negative reactions he faces, some of that could just be a byproduct of the emotion that is coming out as a result of the situation. No one necessarily knows the best way to deal with hardship of this variety.
