‘Gilmore Girls’ revival at Netflix officially a go; Lauren Graham, Alexis Biedel, more returning

It was only a matter of time before Netflix finally issued a green light to their long-awaited revival of “Gilmore Girls,” and today it was finally made official that the long-beloved series has been given new life. Four 90-minute specials have been ordered by the streaming network, which each one represented a new season that will unfold over the course of one year.

In addition to announcing that the show is going to be back, at least four major cast members are confirmed to be returning: Lauren Graham, Alexis Biedel, Scott Patterson, and Kelly Bishop. Original creator Amy Sherman-Palladino will be once again around in order to write the series, which will give the show that added layer of authenticity.

So what about some of the other beloved members of the “Gilmore Girls” family? Are they going to have a chance to appear at some point? Much of it could come down to schedules. This is a series that will likely film soon, and Jared Padalecki is an extremely busy guy on “Supernatural.” It would take a lot of work to even get him back for a few minutes, though we suppose that it is possible. Melissa McCarthy poses a different dilemma because of her busy film schedule, but we’d love to see her do at least a cameo. Both of them were such a huge part of the show that it is hard to imagine a revival in some way.

We are still a long ways away from this premiering, but for now we suppose that the best course of action is to just be very much thrilled that we’re getting more of the show. After all, for a long time this was not even remotely a sure thing.

Excited to get more “Gilmore Girls” coming up in the future? Let us know right now in the comments.
