ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 5 spoilers: Bellamy Young teases Mellie’s big Presidential race

If there is one thing that we’ve learned from “Scandal,” it is that nothing has a tendency to stay the same for very long. With that in mind, we have to assume that eventually, there will come a time when Fitzgerald Grant is no longer President, and there are a whole pile of people who come on board excited and ready to try to snatch the throne away from him. Mellie will be one of them, but what about the other contenders?

One of the big things to remember with the world of politics is that there is a long lead-up to elections, and with that, this story for Mellie could continue for some time. All Bellamy Young will say on the subject for now (per Entertainment Weekly) is that there could be some other familiar faces in the mix much to the surprise of everybody:

“It’s an amazing field of candidates … I cannot wait for everybody to see some new and old faces. Some folks will be a surprise, some folks will be folks you know very, very well, and some folks you may not have seen in a minute. It’s good and juicy.”

If you don’t consider that an excellent tease for some interesting developments coming up in the future … well, we don’t know what to tell you. Every indication we’re getting right now certainly seems to suggest that there are some more-than-excellent things in store for us on the show, which will return on February 11. Everyone’s going to have quite a bit to do!
