‘Legends of Tomorrow’ spoilers: First look at ‘Fail-Safe’

So far on DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow,” we have spent the majority of our time in the 1970’s, and for perfectly good reason. There was a lot that the team needed to do there, but the unfortunate thing is that in the process, one of the heroes above in Carter Hall a.k.a. Hawkman was killed off. While this is far from the end of the character in this universe (we certainly imagine that we could see other incarnations in the past / future), for the time being his death will stick in the present timeline.

As we move forward in this season, the show is also going to jump forward in time. The synopsis below for the upcoming February 18 episode “Fail-Safe” teases that we could see Captain Cold actually being the leader of a rescue mission for a change; not only that, but Rip Hunter could go rogue in a way that puts everyone in danger:

“After some of the Legends are captured and thrown into a Russian gulag during the height of the Cold War of 1986, Snart (Wentworth Miller) leads the team in an elaborate escape plan to free their comrades. However, Rip (Arthur Darvill) gives Sara (Caity Lotz) a secret side mission that could prove not only to be a liability, but fatal to the team.”

If there is one thing that some of these team members should be rather aware of at the moment, it is this: secret missions don’t end well. Anytime so far that these people have opted to “go it alone” on something, it tends to lead to someone being in danger.
