‘Iron Fist’ lead has been cast, confirms ‘Luke Cage’ star Mike Colter
For everyone out there wondering when Netflix and Marvel are going to announce the casting for their upcoming “Iron Fist” series, there is one little note that we can pass along right now: They’ve already given the part to someone. With that being said, they just haven’t chosen to announce it just yet.
Speaking on this subject in a new interview with Collider, Luke Cage himself in Mike Colter made it clear that the decision has been made … but he’s not sure at the moment if he is going to appear in the “Iron Fist” show in any way:
“The actor has been cast, but he’s in a basement somewhere. When the time is right, they’ll let him up and tell him where he is. I am [excited]. I’ll get a nice little break, after doing Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Whether I’m in [his show], I don’t know, but there’s The Defenders.”
“The Defenders” will of course feature all of the main characters across the spectrum of the Netflix shows, and we figure that for whoever gets the Iron Fist role, this will be a pretty hefty commitment. Just like with what Colter did in between “Jessica Jones” and his own show, this actor will make the move very quickly to “The Defenders” once his solo series comes to an end. There’s not a super-clear timeline out there right now, but we anticipate “Iron Fist” coming out in 2017, with “The Defenders” coming out later in the year.
