‘Outlander’ season 2 spoilers: Sophie Skelton set to play Brianna!

Brianna -

After a long period of waiting and great speculation, we come bearing great news for “Outlander” fans today: We now know for certain who is playing the part of Brianna!

Starz has confirmed that Sophie Skelton (“Ren,” “So Awkward”) has landed what will be a very significant role for quite some time to come, but also one that may be mired in some mystery for fans of the TV show only. If you consider yourself one of these and want to remain unspoiled, STOP READING NOW.

Still with us? Then let’s speak further about the implications…

Brianna is the twenty-something daughter of Jamie and Claire Fraser, but in yet another twist with this show she actually grows up in America in the Diana Gabaldon books, and thinks that her father is Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) rather than Jamie.

This is obviously going to be a very exciting role, but for the time being one of the major questions is still going to be how much we are going to even see her during season 2. The show right now is in the process of filming the final episodes, which should air on Starz at some point in April. To go along with some other details about this character, hopefully we’ll also get a definite premiere date and a longer trailer at some point very soon.

Superficially, we’ll at least say that we like the casting. We’re not too familiar with Skelton, but we also weren’t too familiar with either Caitriona Balfe or Sam Heughan before the show premiered. Those castings clearly turned out perfectly.
