‘Teen Wolf’ season 5, episode 14 review: Malia battles the Desert Wolf; Deucalion returns
To say that Tuesday night’s new episode of “Teen Wolf” was heavy on content would be making a vast understatement. There was quite a bit of important stuff that went down, mostly in setting up what are some of the biggest battles to come this season.
For example, we begin with the Beast of Gevaudan, who actually may have done a good thing this week and interrupted a fight between Malia and her mother the Desert Wolf, who seemed ready and willing to destroy her. Deaton and Braeden are at least free, but Malia’s going to be feeling this for some time with her mother still out there.
Maybe Scott McCall and company are going to be able to keep her mind off of the Desert Wolf for a while if they all meet up again, given that they are now ready to concentrate their efforts in rescuing Lydia (who is starting to master the Banshee scream) over at Eichen House! Did you see some of those action sequences? It feels like the timeline for this season is now starting to make sense, and maybe we can follow this particular narrative a little bit more linearly at this point. From a creative standpoint, that helps us to understand what is going on.
What we do also understand right now is that there are some major threats who could keep the mission from happening in the way in which our heroes want. For one, you’ve got Theo out there looking to trade Scott’s eyes for info on the Beast to Deucalion. Also, you’ve got the Dread Doctors and the Beast itself, and we’re not sure all of those motives are clear yet. Episode Grade: B.
