‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 star Lauren Cohan snags ‘Batman v. Superman’ role

Clearly, Lauren Cohan has to be enjoying her career right now. She is already a regular on the sixth season of “The Walking Dead,” and moving forward she is also joining the DC movie universe … even if it is just for a much smaller role.

Sources confirm that Cohan has been cast to play the role of Martha Wayne on the upcoming “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” who of course is the mother to Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman (Ben Affleck). This is a role that has been discussed more as of late in “Gotham,” mostly because that show is set not long after the death of Bruce’s parents. In the movie, this will probably just end up being a small flashback and a blip on the radar in comparison to some other things that you’re going to be seeing over time in between the movie / “Justice League.”

Still, this credit clearly is adding even more firepower to what is already an excellent resume for Cohan. In addition to playing Maggie on the AMC titan, she also guest-starred for a brief period of time as Rose on “The Vampire Diaries” and had a particularly fun role on “Chuck” for many episodes as it started to get a little bit closer to the end of its run. Few people have gotten to be a part of so many different popular genre products.

The second half of “The Walking Dead” season 6 will premiere come Sunday, February 14; of course, we imagine that we will have so much more in the way of news to report before that time. Stay tuned!
