‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 3: Fox not giving up completely on season 4 renewal just yet

If you’ve read what we’ve had to say at CarterMatt already about “Sleepy Hollow” season 3, then our opinion is probably already clear to you: This is a show that has an uphill battle and then some to get renewed by Fox for another season. Right now, the deck is just stacked so dramatically against it for a variety of different reasons … starting with the fact that the ratings are so long, and the show is moving over to Fridays.

For now, the network is being cagey about the show’s future, but apparently not all hope is lost just yet. Speaking to E! News in a new interview, network programming co-head Dana Walden made it clear that creatively, they feel very good about where the story is:

“We’re really happy with Sleepy this season. The creative is in good shape. It’s a very difficult show to keep reinventing where that story engine is. It’s not a show we’re prepared to pick up today, but we’re liking what we’re seeing.”

We do hope by the time that we get to the end of this season, there’s something either in the story or the ratings that the network likes enough to give the show a fourth season. Unfortunately, the odds are really stacked against it. For now, the best thing that it can hope for is that some of the people who watched the show previously tune back in, or just that people are really bored on Thursday nights to the point where they decide to pick up a new show. We’ll have a better sense of where everything stands for certain when some of the ratings start to come in again a little bit later this year.
