’24’ season 10: Kiefer Sutherland wishes franchise well, even without him
It is still strange to think about the idea of “24” on Fox without Jack Bauer, but that is precisely what we are looking at right now. Is Kiefer Sutherland okay with the idea? It certainly seems that way.
Speaking in a new interview with TIFF Live (you can watch the full video by clicking on that link; the questions about the show come near the end), Sutherland says that he is in talks to be an executive producer for the new “24: Legacy” series that is in the works; even if it doesn’t work out, though, he claims that he “can’t wait to see it” and has full confidence that the producers will do something “cool and clever.”
All we know for now is that the producers are planning to introduce a new African-American lead for the show; not only that, but they are looking to move away from every established character who was a part of the first nine seasons of the show. The idea here is to appeal to new fans and also people who liked the original; it’s going to be hard without Jack Bauer, but anything is possible. It’s also only meant to be a 12-episode series, so if it turns out to be a dud Fox won’t have to worry as much about being on the books for a full 24 episodes like they were with some of the early seasons of the show.
Ultimately, the show is still far away from premiering; nonetheless, we will have some other news on the series as time passes. Fox already has another revival in the works, as well, courtesy of their continuation of “Prison Break.”
