‘Celebrity Big Brother’ spoilers: David Gest joins Jonathan Cheban in departing show willingly

While “Celebrity Big Brother” may be a lot of fun for some of us to watch at home, clearly there are plenty of contestants on the show this season who really cannot wait to get outside those doors and into regular life once more. It was only a week ago that Jonathan Cheban departed willingly, and now David Gest has decided to join him.

In a statement, all network Channel 5 would say is this: “Due to medical reasons, David Gest has decided to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House.” The statement is somewhat ironic, given that Gest was at the center of some drama earlier this season when some contestants mistook him for being a “dead” person named David; instead, it was a reference more to Angie Bowie’s late husband when the news came in about him passing last week.

Losing Gest may hurt the show somewhat, since he was a rather big personality. However, all of these quits do explain further why the show casts so many darn people in the first place. They know some of them will leave and just are not that invested in the process of the show. This is ultimately why the celebrity version is so problematic in the first place; very few people ultimately do want to subject themselves to this nonsense in the first place.
