Tim Curry joins Laverne Cox, Adam Lambert in ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ remake

Fox -

Could this be the “Rocky Horror Picture Show” remake news you really needed to hear before the weekend? It’s possible; if nothing else, we think of this more as confirmation that this new version on Fox will have at least some of the soul of the original.

The network confirmed Friday that the legendary Tim Curry, who played Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the original motion picture and also the stage version, will be taking on the role of the Criminologist Narrator here. It’s a chance to have him involved, and he’ll hopefully have a great experience working on this with the new Frank-N-Furter in “Orange is the New Black” star Laverne Cox. Adam Lambert (Eddie), Victoria Justice (Janet), and Reeve Carney (Riff Raff) are also among the primary cast members.

Unlike some other recent musical efforts on both Fox and NBC, this particular production is going to be pre-taped, and will air at some point later this year. They are doing an excellent job casting this, and for so many reasons. They’re finding a way to book people who are extremely familiar to viewers today, but also should capture the heart and soul about the original from four decades ago was all about. In some ways, we’ll be doing the time warp while watching it!

In many ways, we’re already looking forward to this coming on the air, and we’ll probably be freaking out a little bit on the inside when we get a chance to see the first promo.

What do you think about getting Curry aboard the project? Does that give it that extra credibility in your eyes? Share your thoughts right now with a comment, and head over here to get some other TV scoop on everything we cover, sent right over to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: Fox.)
