‘Empire’ renewed for season 3, months before season 2 returns
This is the news that almost every “Empire” fan out there saw coming, but it is still certainly nice to hear it officially: Fox is bringing the show back for a third season.
The glorious news was confirmed while at the TCA Summer Press Tour on Friday; there are further details that are likely still forthcoming moving forward about what the upcoming episodes will be, but we certainly imagine that it will be a relatively similar episode order and will likely air in the same pattern as season 2.
While “Empire” has lot a little bit of steam since it first burst out of the gate in early 2016, this remains one of the most successful series on all of television and has turned many of the cast into overnight superstars. We only hope that the show continues to move forward creatively and be every bit as strong as it has been from the very beginning. There’s a reason why Taraji P. Henson just won a Golden Globe for playing Cookie; both the character and the writing for her is nothing short of amazing.
The second season will officially return to Fox starting on Wednesday, March 30, and we are unfortunately still so far away from this date that it could take some time still for some further details to be released, but you better believe that we will have some more news as soon as it is available. We anticipate more guest stars, more music, and certainly more drama coming up, especially now that Lucious Lyon is no longer in charge of Empire Entertainment.
