‘Poldark’ season 2: More behind-the-scenes fun with Aidan Turner, cast
We applaud the “Poldark” fandom for many things, from their support to their frequent enthusiasm for the show. We can also give the same credit to Mammoth Screen, the company behind the show who continues to be more active on social media than perhaps any other British series out there, in particular when it comes to posting about awards.
As we shared recently, the company is pushing for a victory for the Aidan Turner series at the National TV Awards, and are giving many behind-the-scenes tidbits as an incentive. One of the latest ones comes via there Twitter below (this time featuring Francis and a certain Doctor), and you can also head over to the official Facebook page to see Turner and the rest of the cast exchange in a few bloopers from filming. Turner’s Ross is going to have such a difficult season ahead in many ways as he tries to recover from the events of the finale that it is nice that he’s figured out some time to laugh here and there.
You can vote more for the show at these awards over here.
Meanwhile as for “Poldark” on TV, we’re still charting that the series is going to be premiering on BBC One at some point in the spring. It’d be nice to get some further news on that from the network, but the reality there is that we’ve grown very accustomed to doing with British series in particular. While American TV certainly has its disadvantages, one of the nice things about it is that for major network shows, you tend to know premiere dates many months in advance.
You can head over here today to get some further news when it comes to the show, including some more teasers! Also, sign up over here to book some TV news on everything we cover, sent right over to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: BBC.)

People are crazy…. a year and a half at least before a next season comes. Just stupid. :(

No way was it ever going to premiere in the UK in the Spring, as far as I can determine? I expect it will be headlining BBC’s Autumn season. Because they do not finish filming till April, and then there will be several months post-production. And no major TV drama wil premiere in the UK over the summer. Sorry, guys.

It´s correct, season 2 will premiere in Autumn Sept or Oct from what I gathered. Expected to take Sunday nights slot that was previous given to “Downton Abbey” Seens its now vacant. They said it was delayed because this second season will have 2 more episodes. But that´s prob more due to production time, and the filming still going on?

Season 1 started filming in April 2014, finished shooting September 2014, and premiered in the UK early March 2015. 5-6 month shoot, 5-6 months in post-production, which included a fair bit of CGI. Season 2 started shooting September 2015, and finishes shooting April 2016. 7-month shoot it seems, presumably the extra month reflecting the extra two episodes plus the break for Christmas? Add 5-6 months post-production (and anyway to avoid the “dead” UK summer holidays period) and you get to Sept/Oct 2016. The real reason for the likely Sept/Oct (as opposed to Spring) UK premiere is because the shooting started 6 months later in the year. I must admit, it has amazed me that almost no media commentators have done this bit of maths, even now, given the timeframes I have indicated are all in the public domain, and have just assumed Season 2 will be a year after Season 1?
