‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 spoilers: The plan to rebuild Alexandria

twdJust in case you were wondering whether or not “The Walking Dead” was going to have another dramatic change in setting anytime soon, the answer is “don’t count on it.” Despite at Alexandria for some time now, the plan is not for the cast to leave the town; instead, they are going to try and find some new ways to make the place work … with potentially the help of some surrounding communities if it comes to that. (We have to assume based on recent casting news that the Hilltop Colony is coming shortly.)

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, comic creator Robert Kirman explains that despite the far-from-perfect state of Alexandria at the moment, the characters will find a way to try and repair it in hopes of making their lives better in the long run:

“It comes back to those plans of rebuilding Alexandria … Assuming some people survive, and it’s a good bet that some do because they’ve already talked in the midseason finale that they’re not planning on leaving Alexandria. It’s a bump in the road, but there’s something special there, and they can turn this into an anchor that they can build upon. They actually have a chance at surviving long term and building a safe place, not going from safety to safety to safety the way they have for the life of the show. This isn’t the prison, and ‘Oh, we gotta move on from here and find another place.’ This is something different. And from there, there will be other things that expand their world in new and terrifying ways.”

Obviously, not all of this is going to go according to plan, with one of the biggest reasons for that being Negan. You may not see him in the flesh for some time, but he’ll still find a way to have his presence felt.
