For those of you out there who have been hungry to know some more news about Showtime’s upcoming primetime lineup, we are pleased to present you with two very notable premiere dates!
First, let’s talk “House of Lies.” The comedy series starring Kristen Bell and Don Cheadle will premiere at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time on April 10. Showtime head David Nevins told reporters that the casting of Bell in a new comedy for NBC will impact the future of the show, at least insofar as that there are no plans to continue the show without her. With that in mind, let’s hope that Bell is going to be able to do both for some time moving into the future!
As for “Penny Dreadful,” we’re glad to say that one of our personal favorite series will be coming back on May 1 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. this is a series that seems to be perpetually underrated, but did at least get a little bit of love at the 2016 Golden Globes, where star Eva Green was nominated for her work as Vanessa. As for whether or not that ends up leading to her getting more face time in the press for the upcoming season, that remains to be seen.
In the end, we’re personally just glad to see that Showtime continues to give some of their great series a home, and supports them by announcing and promoting their new seasons long in advance. We have a good feeling that we’re going to have quite a bit more to talk about with these two shows before we get to their premieres.
