‘Supernatural’ season 11 spoilers: Jim Beaver, Steven Williams to return

Bobby -

For an upcoming episode of “Supernatural” season 11, we’re going to be spending a lot of time back in season 5 … sort of.

As first reported by TVLine, longtime fan favorite Jim Beaver is going to make another appearance as Bobby for the upcoming 16th episode of the season, and he will be joined by another familiar face: Steven Williams, who played the part of Rufus. As executive producer Jeremy Carver tells the website, “[Dean and Sam] are going to be investigating an old case that was once investigated by Bobby and Rufus” during the fifth season. This, of course, will lead to some great nostalgia:

“There’s a lot of great throwbacks to things that happened [back then, including] the wonderful relationship between Bobby and Rufus. That’s going to be a really neat episode.”

We’re all for some fun flashbacks to what was a great era for the show, especially with some great characters on board for it. There was a time immediately following Bobby’s death where we wondered whether or not producers should bring him back; his death remains one of the most emotional ones in the history of the show, and we were concerned that seeing him again would take away from that. In time, though, our philosophy has changed, and we’re thrilled to get more of him any chance we can. We’re also grateful that the rules of this show allow for unique opportunities to see some of these characters again, even if it turns out that the Bobby – Rufus scenes this time around are just flashbacks to something we didn’t see. (It’s not entirely clear how the two will appear.)
