‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ finale spoilers: Further look at ‘Be Our Guest’

AHSTo quote a certain song from “Beauty and the Beast,” someone will be putting the Hotel Cortez’s service to the test on the “American Horror Story: Hotel” finale Wednesday night … but they may not live to make it out into the sunlight.

Many characters from the show are at this point dead, and that leaves our new proprietors Liz Taylor and Iris with a dilemma: How do you get new customers when the reputation is going straight down a sinkhole? Given all of the deaths and the utter insanity that has gone on this season, it has been somewhat-easy to forget that this is still technically a business. and you do have to make money in order to survive. Wouldn’t that be a depressing ending if the Cortez just goes out of business and the place is torn down? It’d certainly be fitting for some of these characters, given that there have not been too many people to root for over the course of the year.

As for why there are only 12 episodes this season (we know many have been curious about that over the past few days), there is no clear answer. Our feeling is that either there was only enough story for 12 episodes and the producers didn’t want to stretch things out, or maybe for the sake of scheduling they ended production in time for the cast to go and work on some other projects. We don’t think it has anything to do with the lower ratings.
