‘The Bachelor’ spoilers: Ben Higgins gets a smelly group date

It seems like almost every year, “The Bachelor” finds a way to out-creepy itself when it comes to one of the first group dates of the year. We’ve had people driving tractors in their bikinis, dudes taking off their clothes, and of course sporting competitions.

This season, the idea seems to be having Ben Higgins creepily smelling people while blindfolded. How in the world did production put him up to this? His job is to try to describe every woman by smell, and you can see in their body language just how uncomfortable every one of them seems to be. It only gets worse when Ben starts to describe them, especially when he uses “sour” to describe one of them!

If there is one critique we have of this date other than that, it is this: Why in the world are there so many blonde women on this date? It definitely makes it hard to differentiate them after only one episode of the show.

The good news for these particular contenders is that at some point during the date, Ben is going to give out a group-date rose. Therefore, at least this will be worth it for somebody, and the rest of the group will have to be okay with the fact that this is on-camera for the rest of their lives. Hopefully, they’ve all got a good sense of humor; otherwise, why in the world would they be on this show in the first place? It’s certainly a perfectly good question.
