What’s somewhat interesting about the way in which this show is promoted in particular is that the stars don’t shy away from talking about book topics. Take, for example, the fact that Frank Randall is returning in a big way in season 2, and that Claire is going to see him again. As you imagine, this is going to place her in a rather difficult spot. Speaking on this matter at the TCA Winter Press Tour this week (per TVLine), Caitriona Balfe described the dilemma with the following comment:
“There is that reverse thing where every time she looks at Frank, she can’t help but see Black Jack … There’s many layers of why that relationship is difficult when she goes back. She’s definitely not the same woman that left … [Season 1] was a very reactionary season… She was in survival mode. The difference with this season is there’s been time to be in one place and contemplate. Things are sitting with her a lot more, and she has time to consider her place and how she feels.”
For Frank, this situation must be all the more complex given the fact that he is someone who spent an immense period of time searching for Claire, only to realize that when she is back, she is hardly the same person that he remembered, and her perspective on him will be very much different.
