‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: Meet the new Gaston!

“Once Upon a Time” has cast a new Gaston for season 5, but surprisingly it is not the same one who was so awesome at Disney World in that viral video from a year or two back.

According to Variety, Wes Brown (“True Blood”) has been brought in as a replacement for Sage Brocklebank, who previously played the character several seasons ago. We’re going to be going back in time to see Gaston for an episode that will touch more on some of the origins for the character of Belle (Emilie de Ravin) prior to her meeting her Beast a.k.a. Rumpelstiltskin on the show. We foresee this being a fairly fun episode, given since it has been a long time since we really visited this territory on the show.

What’s so interesting about the Belle story at the moment is that so much of it really is a clean slate. Rumple more or less “set her free” to see the world at the end of the first half of season 5A, and it has been confirmed already that she is going to be a huge part of the show still moving forward. At some point maybe we’ll see less of Emilie due to her expecting a child, but that does not seem to be coming up in the immediately future.

Sadly, there’s also no “Once Upon a Time” for a little while. Even though there may be a lot to look forward to when you think about the Underworld and everything else that is coming up, the show will not actually be returning with new episodes until we get around to March 6.
