‘Outlander’ season 2 video: See Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan talk upcoming events in new featurette

Outlander -Isn’t it funny how things work? Mere minutes after posting an article talking about “Outlander’s” April premiere and speculating as to when we could see some new footage from the season, Starz comes through earlier than we expect with a video featuring just that. Huzzah!

This new featurette takes you behind the scenes of the story for season 2, where the Jacobite rebellion could have key ramifications for not only France, but also Jamie Fraser’s homeland of Scotland. Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, and creator Ronald D. Moore all discuss some of the events that are going to unfold in Paris, which will immediately be far and away a different environment than anything Jamie and Claire encountered back in season 1. Fashion is more integral to the culture, and there is less overt brutality in the streets.

With that being said, though, this is still a violent time, and these two characters have to take on roles that will require a great deal of trickery and espionage. This is not something they are used to, and it will lead to great tension and tests that could push them apart. Their relationship will be challenged, and they will have to figure out how to continue to express their devotion even in the hardest of times.

This featurette really gives you quite a bit, and is the most substantial look at season 2 we’ve had to date. It isn’t a proper trailer per se, but it is equally enjoyable to what one could be. The only major question we that we feel still remains for “Outlander” season 2 is who is set to play Brianna, and that is information that Starz and the producers have kept very close to the vest. (Who knows, though? Given our penchant for speculation today, it’s possible it will be announced minutes after we write this.)
