‘Outlander’ season 2 will have April premiere on Starz
Today, we come bearing good news and bad news to the “Outlander” faithful. Let’s start with the bad: We don’t have the official premiere date just yet. However, we do at least have the premiere month!
Today at TCA, it was mentioned that the series starring Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan is going to premiere on Starz with its second season in April. This is no real surprise, since this is precisely what we expected. That’s when the second half of season 1 premiered, and there is little reason or motivation at this point for the network to want to change things up at this point. It is certainly doing quite fine and then some in the exact timeslot that it has.
Our feeling at the moment is that we could see the season, if Starz chooses to keep the show on Saturdays, premiering on either April 2 or April 9. Unless “Black Sails” takes a week off for Easter Weekend our feeling is that it will end in late March, and given that there is more of “Outlander” to air this season than last year, why delay? The only reason we could think of is if for whatever reason you’re going to try to form a block of this show with “Power,” and you want to give the crime drama some more time to get ready. Scheduling is something that the network is going to have to take a hard look at now, as they may be starting to get more shows than they have Saturdays in a year.
Hopefully, we’re going to get some other news on “Outlander” soon, with a trailer potentially topping our most-wanted list. We feel like the odds are high that something will come during the run of “Black Sails” as a way for Starz to encourage viewers to check out that show.
