If you are an “Outlander” fan and did not hear, Wednesday proved itself to be a very good night for the Starz series. The People’s Choice Awards, were held, and both the show and star Caitriona Balfe both took home honors thanks to the hard work of the fans. It is a result that certainly many parties would love to see replicated at the Golden Globes come Sunday night.
While Balfe was unable to be at the PCAs, the show gave us the next-best thing on Thursday: A video on social media featuring both she and co-star Sam Heughan thanking everyone for all of the love and support that the show has received. The fact that a series on premium cable beat out many contenders with huge fan followings and higher ratings is pretty incredible, and it just goes to show that passion is really what can set some shows apart over others.
Also, these trophies do set a precedent potentially for many more victories at the PCAs to come, given that there are still presumably many more years in which we could see the series and the cast nominated.
The second season of “Outlander” is hopefully going to find itself getting plenty of awards attention in its own in the future … even if it is still at least a few months away. Starz has not released a firm premiere date for the new season just yet, but we’re hoping that both that and a longer trailer come our way soon. What better way would there be to celebrate all of these victories?
