‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 7 to be the last for Sasha Alexander – Angie Harmon series
“Rizzoli & Isles” is clearly deciding to end on a high note.
While at TCA today, TNT’s programming head Kevin Reilly confirmed that the long-running series starring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander will be concluding following its already-renewed seventh season. It still has more of season 6 to air starting next month, and then after that it is going to be coming back with 13 more episodes to close the door on the series.
As we surprised about this? Both yes and no, and for many different reasons starting with the notion that TNT has started to try to get into doing more edgier fare than in the past. A lighter crime investigation series doesn’t really fit into that. With that said, they may have wanted to keep the show around for a while if it wasn’t entering a seventh season. If they were to renew it beyond this it would get much more expensive to make, and maybe the cast wanted to move on to do other things. Do we think the show could’ve gone on for a few more years? Probably, but this does ensure that “Rizzoli & Isles” ends while the series is still fairly relevant and not completely off the radar.
TNT and its sister station TBS has had a lively morning in general thanks to TCA; they have announced that they are reviving “Tales from the Crypt” to be a part of a horror / suspense block curated in part by M. Night Shyamalan, and TBS is also picking up a new comedy starring Wyatt Cenac, proving once more that their main goal as a network seems to be finding new jobs for people who used to be on “The Daily Show.”

I am really actually surprised they got a season 7 at all, season 5 was pretty bad and season 6 so far has been pretty awful. They have taken away most of all of the cute scenes between the 2 leads and have really limited the screen time for Sasha Alexander, guessing the new team that came on in season 5 just didn’t know how to write for Maura, The show, for the most part of season 5 and 6, has been all about Jane a pretty boring since season 4.

Nope, not surprised at all. The show has gone completely to the left of what we all loved about the show. Now, it is just painful to watch. Honestly, after watching a few episodes of Season 5, I predicted that the end would be season 6. They were granted a partial Season 7 so I say they could not have asked for more.
