‘UnREAL’ season 2 spoilers: Will Freddie Stroma return?

Adam -

We believe that we made our appreciation for Freddie Stroma rather clear throughout the first season of Lifetime’s “UnREAL.” He was pretty fantastic in the role of Adam Cromwell, the first star of “Everlasting” and a man who fell for one of the few women who was not actually competing for his heart on the season: Rachel.

The show clearly had a dilemma going into the second season when it comes to this character. He didn’t get married at the end of season 1, and to go along with that he also didn’t get Rachel. He left the first season alone, and since there is a new star of “Everlasting” in season 2, it’s going to be hard to find ways to bring him back. It also must be said that Stroma has been busy working on “Game of Thrones,” though production on season 6 is already over for the most part and we don’t know how much overlap there would be.

Speaking to TVLine, co-creator Sarah Gertrude Shapiro does seem to strongly hint that we will see Adam again soon, though in what capacity (or for how long) is not exactly clear:

“We always look at the story from the Rachel/Quinn point of view and just ask, ‘Do they still have feelings in their heart? Is there still story left?’ … And definitely, Adam and Rachel did not resolve their story.”

Can they ever find a way to be happy with each other once more? Maybe, but we don’t get the sense that is what this show is about. “UnREAL” ultimately seems to be more interested in the dynamic between Rachel and Quinn, and how she may aspire for more but continually finds herself in this job.
