‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 17 spoilers: Is romance coming for Benson?

While romance is not something that is always on the forefront on “Law & Order: SVU,” it is nonetheless still a part of the show. Given that it has been a while since we’ve seen Olivia Benson have a love interest, that may be something that is about to bloom over the course of the next several weeks!

Who is going to catch her attention? That’s still relatively unclear, but executive producer Warren Leight tells The Hollywood Reporter that next week’s new episode “Townhouse Incident” is going to be where you first start to hear about it:

“The beginning of ‘Townhouse Incident’ is the beginning of something for her as well … Part of what happens will be an answer to that question.”

The unfortunate news for Benson here is that this is also the same episode that is going to feature her facing some incredibly difficult circumstances, and quite possibly the most danger that she has faced since William Lewis arrived on the scene. Leight previewed that in this situation, you will see just how Olivia’s stance on handling danger has changed now that she has Noah to be worried about while out on the job:

“It’s different right away for Benson … Is it different to be in this situation when you have a two-year-old at home? One of the things we’re toying with is how do you handle the pressures of this job when you’re a parent? … You react differently when you’re in danger when there’s nobody that you’re responsible for at home.”
