‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ episode 11 preview: Looking at ‘Battle Royale’

Come Wednesday night, we are finally going to be at the beginning of the end when it comes to “American Horror Story: Hotel.” “Battle Royale” is the next new episode, and we certainly feel like that title was chosen for a reason. Do you remember Ramona’s last name? We’re sure that you do, and that probably serves only as a precursor to everything else that comes. Given her current entrapment, it seems like she may go down swinging when she has a real chance to do so.

As for some other key events that you can expect, we feel like the list almost surely includes the following:

1. Getting to see what happens next with Iris and Liz Taylor as they plan to take control.

2. Whether or not the Countess can fight back in a compelling way, and surprise us by not having Lady Gaga be the last person standing. (We almost feel like she will be.)

3. Seeing if John Lowe can start to get any peace.

We’ve been far from shy regarding our negative opinion of this season, but at the same time we do still think that there is a chance for the show to turn things around. It’s just going to need a few things to happen to get us to that point, beginning with some genuine surprises and an ending with some sort of meaning behind it. Go for the emotional send-off rather than something that feels cheap and is meant to mostly inspire tweets on social media. We know that the show can do much better.
