See ‘Happy Valley,’ ‘Poldark’ season 2 footage in new BBC trailer
Based on the latest video that we have seen from the BBC, it may be safe to say one thing with confidence regarding the upcoming year ahead: It’s going to be huge.
This video contains clips of a variety of shows that we know plenty are excited to see, whether it be longtime reality favorites like “The Great British Bake-Off” or “Strictly Come Dancing” or some more scripted hits. You get a tiny tease of “Poldark” season 2 in here, and also the long-awaited return of “Happy Valley.” More than a year has passed since this show was last on the air, but we’re interested to see if time (and an international run in other countries) has helped to make it become more popular.
If we were to look ahead and what some of the biggest 2016 hits could be for the BBC, we’d wager first of all that this is the year that “Poldark” becomes one of the biggest hits of the year to go along with “Call the Midwife” and “Death in Paradise.” Sure, the bake-off will probably continue to dominate everything, but with “Downton Abbey” now off the air we presume this will be the year when the network starts to take complete scripted dominance over its rivals such as ITV.
One of the biggest gambles that the BBC is taking is actually “War and Peace,” their six-part adaptation of the epic Tolstoy work that is being presented starting this weekend. This is something that we are going to be providing further coverage of throughout the winter, so we suggest coming back for more news on that.
