‘The Bachelor’ spoilers: New promo all about Ben Higgins suitors, tears

“Auld Lang Syne” is supposed to be a happy song, right? You’d think so, but the latest promo for Monday’s premiere of “The Bachelor” presents more of the dark side to one of the most celebratory New Year’s songs out there. Basically, you’ve got a series of Ben Higgins suitors crying as much as humanly possible.

Just in case you ever wondered whether or not ABC was even remotely interested in marketing this show around romance, you may now have your answer: That’s not nearly as much fun! This is a show that the network knows is really more about drama and epic meltdowns, and they are therefore going to hype that up more so than anything else. They want to emphasize the tears, the despair, and everything in between since that is what gets people tuning in week after week.

Also, the ratings don’t lie, and this is a show that has been winning the numbers battle for quite a long time. They know what works, and they stick to it (yes there is a formula to this madness). This can even be said for the premiere episode (which we’ve already had a chance to check out over our break). Why would they move away from the traditions at the Bachelor Mansion if they know this works? We wouldn’t want it any other way.
