The premiere of “American Idol” is mere days away, and for its final season it is pretty clear that the show really wants to remind you more and more of its illustrious past. How else do you explain the latest promo below?
In the video below you can get some further evidence that the show is looking to tribute who has come before to go along with the latest generation of performers. You can specifically see in here Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdard, Kris Allen, and Taylor Hicks. These four guys have all had great success since the show, and have seen their careers go off in many exciting, interesting directions.
We understand the interest in bringing in all of these guys to promote the final season. Here’s what we don’t understand: Spending so much time hyping up a moment with Kanye West that is probably only going to last a couple of minutes. Never before has a “wow” TV moment been hyped and teased to such a degree when it is obviously just a ploy to get people watching. We don’t really think that the show needs it, and have a hard time thinking that there are going to be that many more people who turn up to watch the show because of this and this alone.
The only thing we can hope for when the dust settles this season is a capable winner, and hopefully we’ll get some more information about that as time goes by.
