‘Gotham’ season 2 spoilers: How Jim Gordon’s actions will come home to roost

The sad news for “Gotham” fans is that the series is not returning to Fox with new episodes until Monday, February 29. However, at least you’re going to get a consistent run of episodes at that time, and to go along with that, there’s a lot to look forward to.

For one, you have what happens next with Jim Gordon after he crossed the biggest moral line today with seeking vengeance on Theo Galavan. His apparent death is going to cause significant problems for him; not only will Captain Barnes be on the trail of him, but executive producer Bruno Heller teases per TV Guide that he will also have to contend with the notion of his relationship with Lee potentially falling apart:

“The biggest price he will pay is in his relationship with Lee Tompkins … Jim’s essentially an honest man, so the need to have honest relationships does betray him in the end.”

Is the relationship salvageable? Probably, but it’s going to take a lot of work and commitment to a cause. Lee has known from the beginning that Jim is a man who does have this sort of dangerous side to him, but at the same time this is a level of danger she could not anticipate. It’s not just getting to the bottom of everything that happened, but understanding the why and the risk that would come with being around him. After all, she has to think about more than just herself in this particular situation.
