Rose Parade 2016: Start time, where to watch annual New Year’s Day festivities
Come the start of New Year’s Day, a tradition will be turning up in the annual Tournament of Roses Parade a.k.a. the Rose Parade. Multiple networks including ABC and NBC, plus many others around the world, are airing the festivities from Pasadena, California. The Parade is a precursor to the annual Rose Bowl, and it is a great opportunity to see beautiful flowers in a very nice city. Also, there are some familiar faces mixed in here from time to time.
So when will the parade begin? Think around 8:00 a.m. Pacific time, or 11:00 a.m. for those of you on the East Coast. Ultimately, you can sleep in a little bit longer on the East Coast if you want to still check this out live.
For fans of “The Bachelor” (and we know that there are plenty of them out there), Ben Higgins is going to be on one of the floats! An ABC press release gives a pretty nice description of what to expect there:
“Fan favorite Ben Higgins, who will search for love when the 20th season of “The Bachelor” premieres in January 2016, will take the spotlight, sitting on a lifeguard stand surrounded by spectacular visions of crashing floral waves, lush white sand beaches, floral-perfume trade winds and swaying palm trees — the perfect fantasy adventure setting for “The Bachelor.” An actual working hot tub, one of the quintessential Bachelor symbols — complete with heated water — is at the front of the float. Dolphins bob up and down as they surf in the floral waves with intricately decorated sea-life completing the ocean setting. A stylized glowing sun is the backdrop for the 55-foot long by 22-foot high float. A magnificent treasure chest, cascading with red roses, holds the custom-designed wedding rings. Carved tiki figures, sculptured Cattleya orchids and colorful yellow hibiscus frame this phenomenal tropical setting.”
We’ll be back tomorrow morning with more coverage of the parade, so be on the lookout for it!
