Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez calls Miss Universe moment ‘humiliating,’ fond of ‘co-winner’ idea

Miss Universe -While we had heard from Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez multiple times over the course of the last couple of weeks since Steve Harvey made his catastrophic blunder at the Miss Universe Pageant (accidentally declaring her the winner over Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines), we may have just had an opportunity to hear her most revealing comments on the subject yet.

Speaking in a new inter interview on Colombia’s W radio (per the Latin Times), Gutierrez had the following to say about the moment where the host announced her as the victor, only to reverse that decision minutes later:

“It was very humiliating for me, but also for the whole country and for all the people not only from Colombia but the other Latinos that were in the auditorium.”

Gutierrez also said that if the goal was for Harvey to announce the wrong winner in an attempt to get the pageant more attention, they succeeded. We don’t actually buy into some of the conspiracy theories that are out there, mostly because it makes little to no sense that the pageant would want any negative headlines at all following the Donald Trump disaster from earlier in the year.

For the record, Gutierrez did also agree “for the first time” with Trump on one thing: There should be co-winners this time. Personally, we don’t think it’s altogether fair for someone to be rewarded because another person made a mistake, but we understand why she’d feel that way after going through what she did.
